The former Stony Lodge Hospital is a defunct children’s psychiatric hospital that closed in 2012 and has not generated any meaningful tax revenue since. It is an idea candidatel for repurposing.

The eight vacant hospital and ancillary buildings on site have not been maintained and their visible deterioration is a concern for residents and Town officials eager to remove this blight.

The River Knoll proposal – nine years in review before the town boards – is a culmination of town’s wishes, market needs, and vision of Hudson Park Group, to create a beautiful new community that will be a welcome addition to Ossining and neighboring towns.

Repurposing the Property

The existing dilapidated buildings will be removed and replaced with a new age-restricted ownership residential community that will consolidate, rather than expand the built footprint and, thereby:

  • preserve approximately 66% of the site (11.8 acres) as permanent green space
  • convert the land area for 6 of the old hospital buildings into new green space
  • maintain stands of trees
  • keep enlarge existing meadows
  • create new green buffers.

River Knoll will transform the property to offer much-needed housing in high demand for downsizers, empty-nesters, and those seeking an active 55+ lifestyle.
